It is our pleasure to announce that Dr. Hodge is joining Sunny Coast Veterinary.

Dr. Devon Hodge grew up in New Jersey, riding and showing Hunter/Jumpers. She graduated from Monmouth University with a BS in Biology in 2010. She then went on to earn her DVM from the University of Missouri in 2014. Dr. Hodge then pursued further education in equine medicine, completing an internship at Carolina Equine Hospital in Browns Summit, North Carolina. Still not a fan of cold weather, Dr. Hodge moved south to Florida where she worked as an associate veterinarian at Springhill Equine for the next 4.5 years. During that time, she continued her education with advanced courses in equine reproduction, podiatry and emergency medicine. In 2018 she was featured in the Gainesville Sun as one of the area’s top “40 Under 40.” You’ll find her on page 28, for those interested!

Dr. Hodge loves all horses, great and small (also donkeys, mules and potbellied pigs). Her primary areas of interest within equine medicine are reproduction, podiatry, and ophthalmology. In her free time she enjoys riding and showing her two OTTBs, Smokey and Gus Gus, and enjoying time on her farm with her husband Aaron Vurgason, children Reagan (4) and Baron (2). Dr. Hodge is excited to join the Sunny Coast Equine family, and to meet you and your horses!
